A Wedding Story

A Wedding Story

Yesterday was our special day so I’m a day late...?

We chose to get married on Paul’s parent’s wedding anniversary to honour them....It all started on June 09, 1990, at 2pm.  Some of you were there with us and some have passed since ?.

We blew everyone away with our wedding party walking down the aisle to an upbeat David Foster song in a huge traditional church with a pipe organ that was simply beyond compare and amazing!! The colours of the day were purple and gold and “big hair” was still in.  My Uncle Dennis made the day extra special and walked with me down this long aisle.  I was wearing a backless mermaid dress that had poof along with a sleek and hugging bodice. The train was full of gorgeous ruffles!

Waiting for me stood this crazy handsome guy who always had the best hair . He was wearing a white tux with gold accessories - Paul Militsala style and like only he could do!  I so remember those eyes...they always melted me.

The best part was when I broke into hysterical laughter as he surprised me with not one but two rings - (always the best with this guy).  ...my fingers were shall we say “retaining” and it took a bit to get the rings on....I couldn’t believe it so rather than “cry with the horror”, I started laughing and then I couldn’t stop !!   I remember it well - it was the day a young couple took the step to start a crazy adventure....❤?

It’s hard to even imagine 30 years being with someone - back then we had no idea what would come our way but when i stop and think, the depth and power behind it all is pretty amazing!!! We were in love but today I can say that I know what love is .  With all of the struggles that a couple can go through, to have made it this far is something!

It’s worth every valley as there is always a mountaintop ...it’s worth every tear as it’s followed with a smile and tenderness...it’s worth every loss as with it comes gain, mostly in who I am and who we are.   What’s that saying.....two steps forward and one step back, but in that, we keep moving forward and living the life that we know is blessed. I learn every day and I’m so thankful I’m learning with this man...God gave him to me - and I treasure that gift .,..

We still have lots of  kick in us so let’s see what happens next! The best marriage advice I can give is to try each day to be a little more selfless and do it with Jesus ??. Together and with Him I know we can move some crazy mountains! I love you Paul Militsala - 30 years ! ?❤?
